What is a Main Road?

I was recently fined by a cop for making a U-turn near (within 50 meters) of a junction, on a main road.

The road was not crowded, I took enough precautions to wait for any motorist to pass me by before making the turn; further, and there were not any white lines to warn that you should not make a turn. This is to show that it was not fair for him to fine me.

But keeping that aside, how do you tell whether the road is a main road or not. There are no signs to such effect. How do you decide? There should be a concrete way to identify before the police should make such charges.

But being dumb, and too lazy to fight for the rights, we always pay the fine and says good riddance to the charge.

My thoughts - Spitting

One thing that really bothers me in my country is spitting. Lots of folks do this on the road, with disregard to all other users of the road.

Why can’t they get away from this habit? Can’t they keep the spit in their mouth or swallow it?

It’s worse when they spit out phlegm. A disgusting sight! Good luck to the poor fellow who steps on it accidentally.

I visualize having a power to make the spit landed on the pavement to back track on its trajectory & smack the mouth of the offender. It’s a nice dream! I can imagine the surprise he gets when it smack his mouth with all the added dirt from the pavement. If such a thing happens they would never do the same offence again.

Well!, it is a nice dream, but just a dream.

Hope at least our lethargic policemen will take some action. But I have seen the policemen who chew beetle leaves and spit out huge streams of reddish saliva.

Oh! My poor country!, I don’t see any escape within the next 10 years.
